Thursday Watercolor Memories

I am teaching a creative arts activity at a senior care facility near-by and am loving it!  This page is about my experiences and about dementia diseases.  I want to pass on some of the wonderful things I’ve learned as well as resources.  That’s what Thursday Watercolor Memories is all about.

Caregiving for Alzheimer’s and Dementia afflicted folks has been increasingly on my heart as my mother-in-law’s Alzheimer’s dementia has progressed.  She has been my inspiration.  I was introduced to the Alzheimer’s Association’s Memories in the Making program and training by a friend in 2013.  This has proven to be the opportunity I had been hoping for.  I facilitate a making art activity with senior resident artists’ each week and I look forward to being with them – even on Thanksgiving day and Christmas!

My role with Tim’s family is one of an ambassador providing encouragement and helps from the compassionate and professional information the Alzheimer’s Association provides. In 2015 we became Mom’s caregivers.

If you would like to look into the Memories in the Making program or want to check out the Association’s tips and helps I have provided links under Resources below.  I have taken several training classes at the Alzheimer’s Association and will continue to do so.  Each and every class has been valuable and almost all classes are free of charge!
